Co-founder of Microsoft Corp., Bill Gates has his own idea about what the U.S. government should do with its money. He believes it should give more to international humanitarian aid. The government should also use the stimulus package for college expenses. Interesting twist on how to use a stimulus package.
A Wall Street Journal reports, “[Gates] said that state and local governments could use aid from the federal stimulus package to offset education-funding cuts or tuition increases that are often used to balance budgets in a recession.”
I don’t think it’s a bad idea.

Because of the current economic crisis, in fact our being in a recession, colleges, especially private ones, are facing declines in monetary contributions to their endowment funds. This decline is even being felt at Harvard University. I’m glad that I’m almost done.

If you’re looking for a pardon from a criminal or other legal conviction, how about phoning the most powerful man in the U.S. as well as the world, and saying, “Excuse me, Mr. President, could you excuse me with a pardon.” Slate’s “I Beg Your Pardon” article gives a few people that are suspected to ask this of President Bush. But who will he give pardons to? Take a look and a make a guess.

A FoxNews report says that the next generation of spies could be in the forms of flies, bees, and who knows what other kinds of insects. U.S. military engineers are trying to create such spies in order to “be a fly on the wall when our enemies are plotting to attack us.” These new generation of spies are called “Micro Aerial Vehicles, or MAVs.”

Should First Ladies be judged on how fashionable their wardrobes are? Some may think so. CNN’s “Fashion Fumbles by First Ladies” negatively judges former First Lady Hillary Clinton and First Lady Laura Bush for their wardrobes that “wouldn’t have held up in any fashion capital.” As for future First Lady, Michelle Obama, “1 of 4 Tastemakers have higher hopes” that her style will be right in line with the latest trends. And the article says that her trendiness probably attracts young voters.
How important is fashion in White House? Possibly it’s growing even more…well…I’ll say, more trendy. But First Ladies shouldn’t be judged by how trendy they are. Character is what counts. For this young voter, it’s the inside that’s most important. Even though Obama’s wardrobe passes a fashion test, her character will have to pass a four year test. Will she pass a fashionable character test? We’ll see.

Even after the $700 billion bailout for banks, some are still facing the crisis. Citigroup is facing it in a new way now. A way that will affect 53,000 people, their families, and the economy. Foxnews’ report “Citigroup to Axe Another 53,000 Jobs” details the circumstances.
How about the crisis with “Detroit’s Disasters: 10 Cars that Just Don’t Sell.” Check out the car styles that don’t sell. I was surprised.
